Alabama's Coastal Connection

| | Comments (1)
beach-1.jpgThe first byway to be designated by the Scenic Byways Designating Committee, the Coastal Connection recently completed their corridor management plan as part of a pilot project aimed at making scenic byway corridor management plans in Alabama easier and less expensive to complete. To review the final Corridor Management Plan, download the PDF file:CoastalConnectionCMP.pdf
The CMP provides an inventory of the resources located along the corridor, provides action items that include short, medium and long term goals and objectives and provides recommendations as to how to accomplish these goals. Developing a corridor management plan is a requirement of the Alabama Scenic Byways program and helps in any national designation considerably. The CMP was prepared by HNTB's Ikroop Kaur, Joe Watts (representing the Alabama Association of Regional Councils) and Colette Boehm of the Gulf Coast Convention and Visitor's Bureau with help from many volunteers in the region. This CMP, along with another being produced for the Lookout Mountain Parkway in Northeast Alabama, will serve as models for the state program.
