2010 RAMBLE TO EUFAULA AND THE GEORGIA CHATTAHOCHEE AREA JAN 22-24

Chase away the Winter Blues by exploring Eufaula and the Chattahoochee Area with the Alabama Trust. See Fendall Hall, the village of Westville, Americus, and eat at the Windsor Hotel. On Sunday, complete your weekend with a tour of Fort Mitchell. In two days you will find yourself renewed and ready to face February. Friday Jan 22:Arrive at Lakepoint State Park near Eufaula. You may want to arrive early to do some local touring and shopping on your own. We will meet at the Lodge in the lobby at 6 p.m. and then convoy by car that evening to Fendall Hall Alabama Historical Commission property in Eufaula for our opening reception and tour sponsored by the Friends of Fendall Hall.

Saturday Jan 23: We will board the bus at 8:30 a.m. to tour Westville, an 1850s village created from relocated endangered properties in throughout Georgia. There are many businesses typical of the period with all their tools of the trade intact. There are several styles of houses of the period. The world's largest remaining cotton press is here. We will have a lunch stop along the way. We will pass through Plains (home of President Carter) for a rest stop. We will end the day in Americus, at the Windsor Hotel, a turn of the 20th century gem that has been restored and has a gourmet restaurant where we will have dinner.

Sunday Jan 24: We will have the breakfast buffet at the Lodge, then board the bus at 9:30 a.m. to travel to tour Fort Mitchell, a reconstructed fort and educational center. We will visit an Indian monument on the property.

Registration for the Ramble is $60 per person for. $50 for Saturday only. This includes the tour bus fare, admission to Westville, and admission to Fort Mitchell.
