The grants must be matched by the applicant and can be used for surveys of historic resources, nominations to the National Register of Historic Places, local preservation plans, preservation education projects, and predevelopment studies.

- City of Demopolis $10,000 Survey historic downtown and surrounding residential area and identify potential historic districts for National Register listing and local protection programs.
- City of Selma $10,000 Assist in implementing the downtown redevelopment program, Main Street.
- City of Tuscaloosa $4280 Conduct a Commissioner Assistance and Mentoring Program provided by the National Alliance of Historic Preservation Commissions. The program provides training to Tuscaloosa’s historic preservation commission members.
- City of Mobile $10,000 Survey and prepare National Register nominations for Mobile area African American churches.
- City of Selma $2800 Update the Riverview National Register Historic District documentation by providing current photographs, descriptions, and information on the historic buildings.
- City of Valley $10,000 Provide annual CLG workshop and support educational sessions at concurrent annual Alabama Preservation Conference. Conference topics focus on local historic preservation planning and developing local support for preservation.
- City of Monroeville $10,000 Survey downtown and surrounding historic residential areas. Provide National Register documentation for downtown and identify potential residential historic districts.
- City of Birmingham $9300 Record and map WPA-era landscape features at Avondale Park.
- City of Decatur $6000 Assistance for “the Existing Buildings Codes and Historic Preservation” symposium and provide additional educational activities for local preservation commission.
