Leeds Continued

By this night they will have decorated the stagecoach for Leeds' annual Christmas parade. Now comes the time to ride the float and represent both Leeds Historical Society and historic stagecoach road. Members, local craftsmen, built the stagecoach eight years ago, shortly after the historical society organized. It is housed in the carriage house at Rowan Oakes.
A second recent event celebrates the railroad and the turn of a subsequent century. The Leeds Scenic Byway Team, a local group of byway advocates and stewards, recently sponsored the restoration of a mural that has been nominated as the largest one in Alabama. With the permission of the property owner and the cooperation of his tenants, the team's artist brought to life an old train mural in the heart of the historic downtown district of Leeds. The mural is on the stagecoach route and is complete in time for the parade.
